Exceeding the industry minimum in background checks

decorative scrollScreening Process

We take the safety and security of our families very seriously, which is why we require all of the nannies who register with Kindred Families to pass a thorough background check before they are eligible for placement. Nannies are screened after a family has chosen to work with them, to ensure that they are receiving the most up-to-date results. Temporary nannies are subject to annual screening.

The following background checks will be run on every prospective nanny, in each state Kindred Families operates in:

  • County Criminal Court Search – 7 Years – Up to 3 Counties
  • Nationwide Criminal Databases Search
  • Domestic Watch List Search
  • Sex Offender Registry Search
  • Social Security Number Trace
  • Motor Vehicle Records Search
  • Education Verification

The state of California has its own background screening requirements for childcare workers through Trustline. All California nannies must become registered with Trustline upon applying with Kindred Families. Trustline background checks include:

  • Fingerprint records from the California Department of Justice Criminal History System
  • Fingerprint records of the FBI Criminal History System
  • Child Abuse Central Index of California
  • County Criminal Search
  • Cross-check with Community Care Licensing

Colorado nannies are eligible for a Child Abuse Central Index search through the Office of Early Childhood, however, the return time on results can take up to 60 days. Due to the considerable timeframe for receiving results, Kindred Families will not be requiring nannies to complete this screening unless requested by a family
